Adelante Mujeres – Dialogue/Workshop for Adelante Mujeres Staff, Board Members and Latinx high school females to overcome objectives with issues around nationality, racism, education access, language barriers and the economics of becoming successful citizens.
Africans & African Americans – Dialogue for Africans and Black Americans with two different cultural and ethnic perspectives of one another and two distinctly different histories of racism, colonization immigration, naturalization and slavery using the Explanatory Model.
American Jewish Committee – Dialogue/Workshop with Ashkenazi Jewish Americans and African Americans from multiple faiths about race/racism, while contrasting the discrimination similarities and differences of experiences in their respective communities using the L.E.A.R.N. Model. The mutual histories of cooperation were uncovered.
Beaverton School District – Dialogue/Workshop on race and race relations within the Beaverton School District with teachers, administrators, students and counselors with a goal of reducing issues of teachers and students of color using the L.E.A.R.N. Model.
City of Portland – Dialogue/Workshop on race and race relations within the City Bureaus among supervisors, human resources and employees about understanding who the “othered” are in the workplace using the Self Awareness Model of Oregon Uniting. The intersectionality of the LGBTQIIN Community was a part of the discussion.
City of Hillsboro – Dialogue/Workshop with Hillsboro High School students, counselors, teachers, Hillsboro Peace Officers around different race issues, racism and how policing affect the Latinix population using the Self-Awareness Model of Uniting to Understand Racism.
City of Forest Grove – Dialogue/Workshop for the Forest Grove/Cornelius School Board, students, teachers, counselors, psychiatrists, administrators and peace officers in direct contact with students, on understanding the challenges of race and racism with Native Americans, Black, Latinx and White students using the Courageous Conversations Model of Singleton.
Grant High School – Dialogue/Workshop Preview for parents of students that were about to participate in a dialogue about mounting racial tensions at Grant because of its diverse population. This resulted in students valuing their cultural opportunities and exploiting the opportunity of exposure to cultural differences using the Explanatory Model.
Davis Wright Tremaine Law Offices of Portland – A twelve-hour Dialogue with attorneys about implicit bias and racism in the Judicial System of Oregon. This was an Oregon Supreme Court DEI requirement at one time in the State. The Self-Awareness Model was used with Oregon judicial history.
Hillsboro School District – Dialogue/Workshop for students, teachers, counselors, administrators and peace officers to explore Oregon[s history and to illuminate the difficulties of surviving while learning as a Latinx students in the District using the L.E.A.R.N. Model. Counselors focused on how to build resilience in their students.
Jewish Federation – Dialogue about relationships between the African American Community and the Ashkenazi Jewish community in Portland while contrasting and comparing the similarities and differences of their U.S. experiences through the JF’s Community Relations Committee Director, Bob Horenstein, using the Explanatory Model.
LDS Tourism Community of Salt Lake City - Dialogues about LDS truths and truths of other religions outside of the Mormon faith using the Explanatory Model. We uncovered more similarities than differences ultimately for a deeper understanding of our mutual humanity.
Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department – Presentation/Discussion on how to modify the image of the Department, in light of negative racial & sexual accusations from the local press, using Steven Covey’s Model of the Seven Habits of Highly Successful People. This led to the discussion of power dynamics of policing, sexism in department promotions, how nepotism affected women and minorities and changing the public image of the Department.
Natural College of Natural Medicine of Portland (now National University of Natural Medicine) – Dialogue/Workshop about race & racism at the school in light of the recent Nazi graffiti and personnel’s treatment of students of color using the modified C.A.R.E. Model of Cornell University. How racism affects national health outcomes was the center piece of the discussion.
New Thought Center for Spiritual Living of Lake Oswego – Dialogue/Workshop analyzing power, deconstructing U.S. History, why people are poor and Oregon’s historical timeline. The New Thought Model of creating a world that works for everyone and the People’s Institute Model of undoing racism used.
Police Departments of Portland, Gresham and Vancouver with residents of N.E. Portland prior to the Summer-Break Season to reduce unnecessary stops, arrests and tensions among the Asians, African American, Latinx, Russian residents and Tri-met transportation. Co-facilitated with Portland Police Lieutenant, Department of Juvenile Justice Representatives and A Jefferson High School Teacher, using the Explanatory Model. Discussed mutual benefit of parents and teachers keeping students within curfew boundaries to avoid excessive police interactions.
Portland Center for Spiritual Living – Dialogue/Workshop analyzing power, the real aspects of U.S. History, why people are poor, deconstructing institutions using the New Thought Model of humanity + divinity and the People’s Institute models. Internal programs that would become a part of the Unity fabric of civil rights for 2018 and beyond to combat racism, was successfully developed.
Public Employees of Oregon Diversity Conferences – Presenting and De-constructing race and racism through the Self-Awareness Model with different themes every year i.e.- We’re Not That Different, Seriously Portland and Oregon’s History of being a peculiar paradise.
Unity of Beaverton – Dialogue/Workshop discussing the dynamics of race, power and our divinity. Deconstructed the questions of what does “love thy neighbor” mean and how does it translate in faith communities to everyday living. Resolutions made on what was to be this faith community’s next move.
